As the fall-out from 'that interview' continues to rumble, the royal couple lose much of their popularity.
If you are going to plan and execute a PR stunt like being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, it helps if you have a good view of the whole picture, and at least an idea of what you want to gain from the exercise, and if you think that gain will materialise.
My view is that Harry was naive enough to imagine that presenting 'their truth' would gain sympathy for what he perceives as the mistreatment of himself and his wife.
Meghan on the other hand was more likely to see a PR opportunity in the US, which has succeeded, and is indifferent to the views in the UK, because she has no intention of returning here.
What Harry fails to grasp is that this is a game he will never win.
Because of his status and wealth, any wingeing and moaning, especially about having 'no money' is only ever going to be met with rampant hostility.
He is born into privelidge and wealth, which is not his choice or fault, but that does not mean that moaning about it in public will ever gain support or sympathy, it simply will not, ever.
Harry stating that his father and brother are 'trapped' is entirely his perception, and probably an erroneous one at that - both princes seem to accept their situation and destiny perfectly happily, and each of their wives knew exactly what she was marrying into - unlike Meghan who claims to have been ignorant of the protocols and expectations required of her as a royal wife.
Meghan will see the results as a success - a higher supportive profile in the US than ever, and Harry will remain baffled as to why is is so 'misunderstood' by the British press and people.
He needs to grow up and accept that being an adult means accepting things you cannot alter, and stop moaning about them and sounding ungrateful, immature, and chippy.
Learn from your family Harry, you won't win, say nothing, stop caring what strangers think of you, get on with your life and stay away from cameras and microphones, you'll be much happier if you do.

I don't think they necessarily listen to advice. If they did, the best advice is that talking to the media will never ever do them any favours. It didn't with Charles or Diana or Andrew. The only winner will always be the press. This is probably why the queen sticks to "never explain, never complain ".

tomus - // I'm not sure what result they were hoping for. If it was to publicise their Netflix series, or whatever they need to do to earn a living now, I'd say it worked very well. //
Obviously I have no idea, and unlike the vast numbers of people who have opinions based on their own perceptions and un-proven media gossip, I would suggest that it has been a success and a failure -
a success for Meghan who completely understands the U.S. media machine and is looking to their commercial profile
a failure for Harry who will continue to remain baffled that his pointless and immature soul-bearing and sideswiping at his family is not bringing him the love and understanding of the media and the British people he appears to crave to a ridiculous degree.

TTT - // ... they made it clear at the start of the interview that they got nowt. //
They did, but that simply means they were not paid a fee by Ms Winfrey's production company, or the network.
But I would suggest that for the Duchess, the increase in the type of profile she wants for them has been priceless.
For Harry, of course, yet again he is left baffled and angry by retiring bruised and battered by another round of confrontation with the British public and media, whose attitudes and opinions he stubbornly refuses to see, much less understand, and far less, the fact that he is entirely the architect of his own misfortune.

Tony - // OK TTT someone must have been advising them? Did they just let their hearts out, to have a dig at the royal family then? //
As I have pointed out, in my view, Harry did want a dig at his family, and the UK populace and media whom he feels have turned on him because of an inaccurate perception which has been created around him, and which he mistakenly believes he has the power to alter - when clearly the results show otherwise.
I think Meghan wants to promote a 'victim' personna, so again as I pointed out, she has succeeded, and he has failed.
