Free everything, 4% rise for NHS staff, double child benefit, an interim monkey to families. It's like a magic money orchard up there!

Scotland only has one destiny. It isn't a viably economic entity so will always rely on subsidies (English or EU) unless they learn to live without all the freebies.

Why would Scotland need a defence force?
According to the brains trust we've nothing worth having anyway.
Question Author
well the Russians could invade and put their nukes there.....hang on!
Why would Scotland need a defence force?

Fair enough,so how many jobs lost is that?I expect Scotland may find alot of young people may move south or farther a field looking for work.Even less tax revenue. But i admit i am no expert just saying my thoughts.Personally i would be very sad if Scotland decided to go its own way,but i would respect their decision and wish them luck.
The Russians don't have to invade, they'll just drive up from that capital city you've sold them and ask for what they need.
"Personally I would be very sad if Scotland decided to go its own way"

Why?
I would be sad as well if Scotland were to go it alone.
This is getting absolutely mental now.
because we have a long history, in times good and bad, that many English live in Scotland, and many Scots reside down here. I can't put any more reasons but i would hope one thing, that Scotland doesn't split from the UK, bad for all of the UK
what is mental douglas.
But none of that has anything to do with it! The long history you speak of would not change following independence, unless there is now a conspiracy theory which says that the bad SNP will rewrite history, Stalin style. There will still be people of many nationalities living in both countries. How is any of that going to be affected by Scottish independence?
Why?

Because in a sense its a break up of a family,i think we are better off together and not splintered up.But as i said before,i still respect their decision if they want to go.
it just will, splitting from the UK to tie yourself to the EU just seems the height of madness.
It sill be differant though Jim.We will be differant countries. You see how disruptive its been pulling out of europe it will be the same again ,only more so.
what will you get from the EU, in the long term, that you can't have being part and parcel of the UK.
"We will be different countries"

LOL! Well, you're right there! That's pretty much the dictionary definition of independence. :-)
so what currency will you use, the EU may insist on the Euro.
as a separate nation you will need to have your own military, or is that not part of the deal. Who stays head of State ? THe Queen and the royals, or would you prefer Nicola to become head of state in Scotland,
i can see so many pitfalls. not least the economy.

\\Feel all you English nationalists need to read up a wee bit more. Scotland's military force? The armed forced do not "belong" to England. I could cite many more examples, but Jackdaw's disparaging remarks sum the English up. No I don't hate the English, I just want Scotland to be in charge of its own destiny.//

by joining the EU...
which is the mental part of this whole debate.
I believe that an independent Scotland would seek to establish its own currency ASAP, as most other nations did following their independence:
https://www.believeinscotland.org/how-easily-could-an-independent-scotland-set-up-its-own-currency/

As for being forced to join the Euro, cf with Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

I would hope that an independent Scotland would be a republic and not part of the Commonwealth, with a democratically elected president. And not Nicola, obviously.
supposedly dragged down by the hated enemy, England, but ready to tie yourself to the nutjobs that is the EU.
