The function of schools is to educate its pupils and prepare them for live beyond education. If they are going to earn a living and make a contribution to the society in which they live they will be surprised to find that it often means complying with terms and conditions with which they may not necessarily agree but which they have to swallow in order to earn a...

Says who? You?
Colourful hijabs could be a problem because according to the school’s website students are expected to adhere to the uniform - something that the vast majority of schools require.
Yes, me.
And who are you to say what is true? An opinionated person on the internet, that’s all
How would a colourful hijab prevent them from adhering to the uniform when it did not do so until recently?
You’re welcome to check it out. Your problem isn’t mine.
Perhaps the students been breaking the rules, and now their miffed because they’ve been asked to stop.
I’m afraid it is your problem if you hope to be convincing. You aren’t the arbiter of what is true and what isn’t I am afraid. So it’s up to you to substantiate and explain...
But there was not a rule against colourful hijabs before this.
I couldn’t care less whether you’re convinced or not. The school website asks students to conform to uniform and that’s what they should do.
the school uniform policy is here.

on items of religious significance, it says:-

3.6 Items of religious significance
Some students may choose to wear headscarves. Headscarves must be black or navy blue.
 Pins or clips must be small, dark in colour and understated.
 There can be no decorations such as sequins or patterns.
 Some students may choose to wear a turban. Turbans must be black or navy blue.
 There can be no decorations such as sequins or patterns.
The academy's decision is final.

the policy is not dated as such but embraces the 2020/2021 school year so probably wasn't introduced recently.
'If life was about confirming and obeying all the time then this country would be a much worse place.'

When I had stopped laughing at that totally stupid comment, I suddenly realised that this is EXACTLY what is wrong with our country today - children no longer obeying school rules and can do and say whatever they like, usually with the backing of their parents. Schools, you may as well all give up now, children rule OK .......
thin end of the proverbial wedge, this and that cartoon outrage school
staff and governors will shrink away, no racism has been brought up.
Someone must be sacked, this is outragous our culture our ethnicity.
is this really the road britain is going down, pity the generations to come...what a mess it's going to turn into, an orwellian glastonbury festival..
so the new head may have nothing to do with it -
“ I couldn’t care less whether you’re convinced or not. The school website asks students to conform to uniform and that’s what they should do.”

If you don’t care about convincing people then why are you here?

The school changed the rules on uniform very recently, before that there is no evidence of pupils disobeying en masse... you are going in circles.

Call it stupid if you want to shirley but life is not just about conforming and doing as you are told. Sometimes it is quite correct to ‘make a fuss’... sorry if that offends the drab conformists out there...
// life is not just about conforming and doing as you are told. //

if drivers of motor vehicles took that attitude, most high streets would be like Death Race 2000. would you be happy for a road death toll of hundreds every day, just so non-conformity could be accommodated? there have to be rules, otherwise society would not be able to function.

Detention for abusing the school, bringing it into disrepute, denigrating the authority of teachers, failing to meet required standards of uniform and behaviour, failing to turn up to classes; a thousand years should do.
No mushroom. Life is not always about non-conforming either.

You’ll notice in the extremely brief posts I have made on the subject that I used phrases such as “not always” and “sometimes”... I will try very hard to make my posts shorter for you in the future :)
What we have here folks is a lot of children joining together, en-masse, as a group, united, with a common purpose, with one goal in mind: To show that they refuse to conform:)
Very good sanmac!
