Covid And Tenancies
32 Answers
There is a big problem with one of our neighbours. In the last two months she has been charged with GBH against a woman, due in court soon, and with GBH against a second female victim outside her home. Talked to her landlord. Transpires that she has been served an eviction order but, because of Covid, he can't throw her out until October. That's not something I was previously aware of. We're all looking to see the back of the creature and guess we'll just have to wait.

It doesnt matter WHAT the post is about, it'll go in that section. Paigntonians neighbour being charged with GBH may be news to him, but there are 68 million people in this country that wouldn't class it as news. I like the news section, but not when it's filled with pap
I had a tenant who stopped paying rent on purpose so I would evict him and he could get a council house. It didn't work so he left anyway with 6 months rent owing on the understanding I wouldn't pursue him for the arrears -I agreed and he left. When we went around to the property, he had trashed it. He has got a five-gallon tin of emulsion and threw it all over the kitchen floor, units and windows, pulled all the ceiling sockets out and smashed all the downstairs windows. Police came -no proof it was him blah balh -its a complete nightmare.
my ill sons tenant stopped paying rent 3y ago when son went into hospital. They trashed his flat, needles everywhere, huge electric bill flooded bathroom & kitchen, black with mould & pet facaes all over & furniture ruined. Ive got the flat sorted with new tenants but the council are chasing my son for 4y c tax £5k+ that tenants never paid. Son sent council his doc & hospital info but theyre threatening him with Court action - this will be fun when he turns up in Court by ambulance with IVs hanging out of him.
Yep, I too have been there and got the T-Shirt. Also had trashed houses and needles everywhere. Rent not paid is all too common.
We got out the Landlord business, last house sold a year ago now. We had 4 flats and 6 houses at one point - all no longer in the letting pool now. And all properties were fully renovated (by us) and of a good standard. We had thought we were doing the right thing to both make us some money and provide a decent roof over peoples heads at the lower end of the market.
Credit where credit is due: So you can debate sensibly then Gully!!
