AH, //naomi - // I think ‘poor sod’ too. // Why do you think that?// Because he got out of bed that morning and prepared in the normal way for a day at work - shower, breakfast, a bit of interaction with his family perhaps - completely unaware that his life was about to change forever. Poor sod.

Naomi: "Because he got out of bed that morning and prepared in the normal way for a day at work - shower, breakfast, a bit of interaction with his family perhaps - completely unaware that his life was about to change forever. Poor sod. " - BA
"....and what about George Floyd, who also got up that morning unaware his life was going to change - in fact, he lost it. Even poorer sod, no? " - NO! he was a career criminal, he knew what he was going to be doing, crime.
well here's someone who should know better all but telling the jury what the consequences of acquittal will be

will be interesting to see if an appeal as suggested by the judge is taken forward.
Naomi - I cannot sympathise with the ex-officer to that extent - he is where he is as a result of his own conscious actions, which he could have stopped at any time.

Unlike Mr Floyd.
Did George Floyd really wake up thinking “I’m going to do some crime today?’ I doubt it.

He expressed remorse for his past crimes numerous times and actually attempted to dissuade others from doing the same... certainly he was not a good person... That being said the weird sadistic pleasure that some people seem to take in his horrible death is cruel and quite sinister.

So why was he passing dud $20'sthen?

Only a tiny minority would take this view, and I have not seen it here on this site.

I see you have chosen to ignore Walters call to arms, why is that I wonder?

I foresee problems whatever the outcome. After Walters disgusting outburst I can see no way this can be judged a fair trial (whether or not Chauvin is guilty). This is jury intimidation and the woman should be arrested.

I'd have thought Water's would be guilty of sub judice or the US equivalent. I hope the jury have been shielded from outside info or this could well be a miss trial.

untitled: "Did George Floyd really wake up thinking “I’m going to do some crime today?’ I doubt it. " - I agree but that's his default, he does crime, does a bear wake up and say I'm going to deficate in the woods today?
You think people can't or shouldn't be forgiven for past crimes?
I did not see Maxine Waters speech uyoungmafbog I did not “choose to ignore it” (not everything is a conspiracy!)

It was absolutely wrong of her to do that and the judge’s response seems quite fair to me...
I don't take any 'sadistic pleasure' that Floyd is dead, I just couldn't care less. All my sympathies are for Chauvin, poor sod.

Who is taking 'sadistic pleasure' by the way ??
Question Author
ummm: "You think people can't or shouldn't be forgiven for past crimes? " - When they stop doing crime then yes they deserve a chance to atone, clearly this is not the case here, Floyd was still very much pursuing his career.
Question Author
"Who is taking 'sadistic pleasure' by the way ?? " - that's lefty code for not condemning the nasty policeman and tearing down a statue.
//The defendant is charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter. Mr Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge - second-degree murder.
A conviction on any of the counts against him will require the jury to return a unanimous verdict. A single juror holding out would result in a mistrial, but the state could then try Mr Chauvin again.
Of the 12 jurors, six are white, four are black and two are multiracial. Seven are women and five are men. \\

They have to reach a unanimous verdict. Oh boy that could take a while.
"So why was he passing dud $20'sthen? "

as far as I know it is not actually confirmed that Floyd did this, knowingly or otherwise...
AH, //he is where he is as a result of his own conscious actions, which he could have stopped at any time. //

How 'conscious' his actions were is debateable. Did he consciously intend to kill Floyd? I doubt it very much indeed. Floyd, on the other hand, was without doubt where he was because of his conscious actions. He consciously chose to commit crime and in doing that he opted to take his chances. He lost.
I got a dud £20 out of an ATM.
he did do the time for his earlier violent crimes naomi and expressed remorse for them... and tried to discourage others from doing the same.
// He consciously chose to commit crime and in doing that he opted to take his chances. He lost. //

Not sure in his assessment of passing a dud note he figured in that he might be killed by a police office. He probably knew that the police can use reasonable force to detain him but a knee to his throat is not reasonable.
// he did do the time for his earlier violent crimes naomi and expressed remorse for them... and tried to discourage others from doing the same.//

or so says his defence lawyers.

If Chavin is acquitted there will be short term violence, but if he is found guilty it will be a huge blow for the Police Officers trying to fight crime in the Black community .
