Leaving an organisation you chose to work for, and the bitching about it to the media twenty-four hours later is nothing new - veteran BBC employees do it regularly- Humprhies, Murray and so on.

I would probably appreciate is flag waving 'look at me I'm a good guy' schtick if he had been more vocal about his contempt for the political system when it was paying him handsomly to work in it.
