The refurb allowance is £30k per annum ...
^^^ love it Spicey and you’re bang on with that
don't know what it said...
ah poor gully getting all excited! Even if Boris Goes he'll be replaced, it won't put Labour any closer to a GE win!
next election is 2024, Labour should up their game if they want to win then.
Do you think a Prime Minister / President of ANY other country pays a red cent towards doing up their official residence? This whole issue is a complete load of bull droppings!
i agree with you ^^
emmie: "next election is 2024, Labour should up their game if they want to win then." - not a hope, I can't see real Labour ever winning again. The party is dead, they should disband and form a new party with the sensible ones they have.
^^^Yes, they are hopelessly divided. Anyone can see that & there is little hope for a divided party. Maybe the lefties should fess up and join the British Communist Party?
He could be replaced by Rishi Sunak who has paid for the refurbishment of his Downing Street flat himself but of course he's a Tory so G will still not be happy.

It's their private apartment, not an official residence.
Do you think they invite the Sultan of Brunei up to finger Carrie's Egyptian Cotton Sheets?
LB//He could be replaced by Rishi Sunak//
Not sure that Rishi has enough experience to take on the role of Prime Minister.
"It's their private apartment, not an official residence."

So do they get to stay they as long as they like - even if we have a new PM?
stay there
It might be their private residence but they don't own it.
Why couldn't Boris and Carrie have moved some of the furniture they already have at home into number 11? As has already been intimated, there's is a temporary residence so the £30K annual allowance ought to be more than adequate to maintain the flat to a comfortable standard. And it doesn't necessarily follow that the next tenants will benefit. They, like Carrie, may not take to the existing decor.
No, they don't own it.
They could have moved some of their stuff. I doubt they'd spend £30k per annum. That would be a constant round of decorating. How tedious would that become.

30k is not a lot of money in reality.
30K is plenty for a temporary residence.

New sofa, new bed and a lick of paint, thats 5K tops - now for the rest of the 25K....
Get you, ummmm. Not a relative of Carrie's, are you?
£600 pw not enough to decorate a flat.
