//Thank god most realise it's about maleness and not religion. // If 'maleness' is the fundamental problem we would see male names from an assortment of cultures on that list - but we don't. Those people who allegedly 'realise', consistently ignore the elephant in the room and are in denial - and denial of this on-going abuse does nothing to help the victims....

TTT, yes I do accept that. What I disagree with, is that religion causes normal people to be violent.
Every sane adult is responsible for their own actions. It's literally the definition of it.
So, blaming any religion, is actually, an attempt to excuse their behaviour, as if they can't help it. They don't deserve that. They "can" help it.
So, it's frustrating when people try to blame an inanimate religion, which lets them off.
It is THEIR fault. Stop blaming entire groups, who have done nothing wrong.

pixie374, there religion give them carte blanche without religious repercussions, i suppose you could say in a deranged way, they think of themselves as very islamic, so what they do sexually is ok as long as
they do not do anything to a fellow muslim girl women, an excuse perhaps.. as i said in a deranged way.

As Naz Shah liked and re-tweeted the following, by dint of which she agreed with it, it's clear whatever has gone on before on this thread, we should not make the connection between these predominantly Muslim gangs and the sexual abuse of non-Muslim girls, all for the sake of harmony.
"Those abused girls in Rotherham and elsewhere just need to shut their mouths. For the good of diversity."
Call me odd, but I consider the abuse of young girls to be somewhat more important.

I think that in many areas of abuse perpetrators will use religion as a tool for manipulation, or a justification for their actions, it's not just Islam, plenty of abuse within fundamentalist Christian families where the ma Lee see women as very much second class and subservient. Girl children are married a s soon as they are legally able, often at the direction of the Elders. Keep religion out of the argument there are good people and bad people, vulnerable and those who take advantage.
