Should we stop ALL international flights in and out of the country and also close Channel Tunnel and ports etc to try and stop this new covid variant, drastic times lead to drastic measures!

too late its already here.
80% of our food is imported. We would soon starve.

Australia and NZ have done it and they're not starving to death!
they have rampant covid.
What would be the point in closing borders. The cat is already out of the bag..
and this continues every day since we knew about it..

we wouldn't last too long without goods from the EU particularly, if you shut the channel tunnel.

emmie ..... where on earth are you getting your information from?

You can't stop the spread entirely and as for closing the borders it's already here. We have to find ways of living with this disease & limiting its effects, like we do with flu.
straight from Australian friends. Its a basket case.
Looks like I may have to protect my carrots at the allotment .. it wont be just the rabbits stealing them ! ..8-)
no one is going to shut the channel tunnel or stop flights coming in with food.
We have many Australian friends that we talk to regularly and their lives are pretty much back to normal!
as already said its here, we just have to learn to live with it, like we do with flu. One hopes those numpties not having the jab, will see that's its vital they do for all our sakes, three quarters of the adult population of UK has had at least one dose, but there seems to be pockets of deniers out there who need convincing that its the best thing to do, makes us all as safe as one can be
My Australian friend at 92 has not had a vaccination, nor anyone around her either, disgraceful.
Current Australian statistics...

A friend told me that around Melbourne at least, vaccines are only done on weekends.
i don't know if her daughter who lives over the other side of Australia has had the vaccination, she hasn't seen her mum in over 13 months.
My sister, in Australia, has had one vaccination and there lives are pretty much normal. Son in New Zealand has a normal life as well.
that's not what my friends in Australia are experiencing, i spoke with my friend who is 92 and i queried why she nor any one she knows has had the jab, and she just doesn;t know.
