What's happening? Looks to me like there are many cases but relatively few hospitalisations, presumably because a) we are doing a lot more testing and b) vaccination means that although present in the body when tested it's not getting a foot hold. Should we push back the 21st June relaxation or power ahead and rely on the fact that all but the THB will be vaccinated pretty soon?

There can't be too many. There have only been an average of 80 daily admissions across the whole of England in the last month. As a thought, though, that's what hospitals are for - to deal with sick people.

I think the growing disparity between deaths/case/hospitalisations is because most of the very vulnerable are fully jabbed, and so the current boom in cases is in younger/fitter people - who still get ill but don't need hospitals and don't die.

the fly in the ointment if any is that the pool of infecteds churn out a random mutation that escapes the vaccine - - hasnt happened yet.

Strangely, dd, I'd just drafted a reply on similar lines, except that mine said "...for a very long time." I thought I'd look at the latest posts before posting it so you saved me the trouble!
