Good God AH, did a large bill just land on your doorstep? You sure do seem very grumpy. Thanks for sharing Khando its very interesting, more people need to stand up to those that wish to cancel others. Eh AH?
Khandro’s post at 12.43 clearly outlines the nature of the video and his heading declares that the speaker is standing up for fre speech. What’s not to understand? It’s clear enough.
I've just watched it. And while I like him, and agree with what he is saying on the surface...
What exactly is the 'censorship he's referring to? It isn't in the video.
Here's an example of it Pixie.
//J.K. Rowling — The famous author of the Harry Potter series has faced backlash for voicing her fears that the push for transgender rights will ultimately endanger women’s rights. She’s since defended her comments on her website and joined 150 authors and academics denouncing “cancel culture.” These actions have only further infuriated her critics, who called for a boycott of her books and for her publisher to stop paying royalties.\\
Ah yes, thanks lb, I knew about that- and totally agree that is cancel culture. I just wasn't sure what this example was about?
For instance, a comedian has been cancelled recently, for making racist comments about footballers... which is fine with me.
But what was this school trying to "cancel" specifically?
Shirley, his name is Andrew Lawrence, and all his tour has been cancelled it seems. I would prefer to leave it to you to Google, than repeat his comments x
My memory is dreadful nowadays Pixie but wasn't there something here, perhaps Derbyshire, Lancashire, or Yorkshire or thereabouts at a school where people were getting silenced? Something to do with a.n.other culture?
I'm not sure, lb. But- I would think we would mostly all agree that some things "should" be cancelled? If I made a call on here for any kkk members to contact me- I would expect and hope it would be deleted...
So, while I'm 100% for free speech, it isn't always that simple. Truth should always be free. But violence, harassment... maybe not.
