christ Jim - light day in Crow-assie?
thanks anyway

this doesnt run in England as we didnt have slavery ( somersett's case - the air of england is too pure for a slave to breath - held no slavery at common law - Mansfield 1764 - christ he is getting good exposure tonight innit?)
There was a law of return in Darzet - aaargh - but the only problem is that no one here knows what THAT is - and there doesnt seem to be a recorded case.
Thanks, Jim (apologies, working...). He isn't right that people should be "colour-blind"- in that, it doesn't work. I've only learnt from AB over the last few years, that I was wrong, you "should" take notice of what colour people are, in order to say the right things. It seems entirely unnatural, and always seemed a backwards step to me- but I have learnt to be far more aware of colour from here, than real life requires.
Also, whether anyone of any colour is inherently racist, is impossible to tell. It's largely subconscious, so to deny it for an entire group of people, seems dishonest.

Peter; I swear I can hear a Manchester accent in there, which would explain everything :0)
There's a lot of what he says that isn't right, to be sure (the stuff about "the left owned slaves" is a clear misapprehension due to historical Democrat/Republican politics, for example). Still, I'm struggling to see on the face of it why it was apparently censored.
yes - no
I think he is a Brit and he is thro the viddie talking to us brits
and it is kinda different for the audience in the Land of the Free.

have we got to burning EBB ( elizabeth barrett browning silly!) books because Old man Brown was a slave owner ?
the one who wanted to poison the dog when Elizabeth fled.

honestly I think we just dont get it
I thought the accent was RP
( he never once said moom-eh - or monchest - or )

I ondered why he didnt prepare more - as the take off / start up was a bit - - "diverse"
YMB - // Good God AH, did a large bill just land on your doorstep? You sure do seem very grumpy. //

Almost never grumpy.

However, simply sticking a link of some peed off parent in the US sounding off about freedom of speech, with no question to start a debate, seems somewhat pointless, as I pointed out.

If Khandro wants to start a debate, fine, but start it, don't simply stick a link up and let everyone try and figure out what you think about it.
It didn’t take any effort for me to understand what Khandro thought - and what an op thinks is irrelevant anyway. Items posted here invite opinion.
Maybe for you Naomi, but as you are often told, you don't speak for everyone, well, not outside your own mind anyway.
Where did I speak for everyone? I said ‘me’... which means ‘me’.

If you take a look to whom I gave BA, even you should be able to work out what I think about Mr Campbell's speech.
Is there such a thing as 'freedom of gesture'?
Are the English team guilty of some gesture which is designed to cause harm or fear in others?
Be careful how you reply to my second point - you might appear a bit snowflakish if you feel threatened by 'our lads'.
Freedom of speech applies to people you don't agree with, as well as your own tribe.
Do you not think freedom of speech should apply to everyone, atheist?

Atheist // Freedom of speech applies to people you don't agree with, as well as your own tribe.//

That is correct & what the thread is about - have you seen the video in the OP?
Khandro - As you patronisingly point out, 'even I' can deduce your view from your award of BA.

But I have no way of knowing when you made your choice, but for the sake of argument, let's assume you were so enamored with it, you selected it on site.

That's still getting on for two hours after your OP went up - how am I supposed to deduce your view between those times? Mind reading? My skills are many, bit 'even I' can't do that, so I have to wait for an indication from you, since you neglected to offer one in your OP in the first place.
I agree Naomi whole heartedly

is full of 'me' - read the post AH! the answer is always there
blimey Abers have to certify omniscience before the editor allows them on, innit

look at the law thread ....
better link
AH, why do you need to be aware of the OP’s opinion before posting your own? Would his opinion influence yours? Your argument makes no sense.
Dunno, it's a mystery.
