Pet Names.

We've had cats for many years, usually two siblings at a time. I have found that all my friends who have either cats or dogs treat them as an integral part of the family and whichever name they are called, or whenever we referred to them in writing, the pets names have always been proper nouns, e.g. Toby, Rex or Mitzi. Not toby. rex or mitzi..
I'd like to know how you would feel if a pet supply company, who previously used your pet's name with a capital when sending offers through the post, suddenly changed their policy of reducing these names to a virtual cypher. I know the animals don't care, but I'm afraid I do.
My vet has never considered using all lower case names for their charges, but somebody in this company thought it might look 'cool' or whatever on their correspondence.

Ironically, the names of chemical elements and compounds always used to be written with the first letter in upper case, but they are now written throughout in lower case.

Ha, ha Etch, I take your point.
It is actually an anagram. The first item I ever sold when signing up for eBay many years ago was a radio control receiver and while I was typing, one of my cats was sleeping across my feet, so when asked for a username I just thought rc and catnap. It was never intended to be a name per se, hence the lower case. It was easy to use it for Answerbank as well.
