Remember the claim by Brexiteers that UK would be "swamped with immigrants" if EU membership continued.

Well, Brexit seems to be increasingly active in this respect. But of course we Remainers always knew the Brexiteers were lying - unfortunately many of the great unwashed were taken in by the pernicious propaganda.

I was going to post this today so thanks for hilighting it
I believe that Brexit has got nothing to do with it
These people will continue to make such attempts regardless purely and simply because of our benefits system and welfare society
The problem seems to be with the French who do not appear to be making a maximum effort because the figures show they only stopped a fifth that day
Love your avatar image btw Canary42
Canary, you’re not Gulliver in disguise are you? He doesn’t understand that the people coming across the channel aren’t Europeans and are coming here illegally either. Why do you persist in making twit of yourself?
I'm not sure how you think this is linked to Brexit Canary. Brexit didn't suddenly put a force field around the country or anything. The exact same routes are open to illegals as before.

It's legal immigration that Brexit effects.
You should get educated about the facts of Brexit and the influx of migrants mainly from the Middle East. But, hey, there is a snowball in hell's chance of you doiing that.
they are mostly from Africa/Middle East and not Europe.
How is it a lie, Canary? If EU membership had continued we would be swamped with immigrants. They've been coming in their droves for years to live off our welfare. There are some parts of this country now where you won't see a white person because they're too fearful to set foot in those areas.

You've always got to twist things to suit your own political agenda.

Canary never posts anything positive, nor does he come back to his threads to respond.

naïve and childlike
Stirring.
that too Naomi.
There are more illegal crossings now because there are more displaced people. Nothing to do with leaving the EU.
Brexit was about shutting the door on legal migration, and the shortage of lorry driver show that it unfortunately working.
It is completely untrue that illegal migrants come here for our generous benefits system. We do not have a generous benefits system, not for our selves or immigrants. They come here because they have learned English, and know there are jobs that the British don’t want to do.
then why do so many seemingly end up without work?
Gromit, our benefits may not be as generous as some other countries but they’re quicker and easier to access. Additionally we have a health service that is free. I think it’s absolutely true that many come here because we’re a soft touch.
Canary uses a Greta Thunberg avatar because he knows that she annoys you. It is petty and snarky, but exactly what Tora has been doing with his avatar for years.
i totally agree, once you know the system and all you can claim then they can have a cushy life on benefits.
// our benefits [are] quicker and easier to access. //

With respect naomi, that is absolute rubbish. I can only assume that you have been fortunate enough to have never used the system.
Ditto emmie.

No one on benefits has a cushy life.
oh yes they do, once you know the system, i know because i had to rely on it when ill, and now that i am of pension age, then that is a bonus.
Maybe you should write a book, emmie, don't keep these secrets to yourself.
