Who knows they may enjoy it!!! and it could lead to a full time job for them. (I am excluding the layabouts I see in town everyday milling around - more interested at shouting insults at the passers by).
Maggie when I was unemplyed after being made redundant I took any job going so that I not only could earn some money for the family but also working for a company means you are there if any vacancies arise then or in the future. These jobs included picking litter, cleaning council toilets and packing meat in a factory. Not everyone is a layabout!!
Don't know about that bakerwales, but would have thought there was something they could get them to do. Many years ago when I was in the RN the farmers would come to our camp to ask for people to help get in the hay and other stuff and in return we would get a small amount of money and plenty of cider free. As Mary hopkin would say Those were the days my friends.
