Today is also Thanksgiving in Canada; International Day of the Girl Child; Columbus Day; Sausage Pizza Day.
This month is Domestic Violence Awareness Month; Stoptober and Down's Syndrome Awareness Month.

Anything and everything has its days - some have a whole month

To be gay was to be happy, A Queen was someone in a local pageant ,a dyke was something only read about as the little boy in Holland who put his finger in a hole of the dyke to stop the flooding ,how meanings have changed unnecessarily

I remember my Mum having a set of books one of which was a question and answer book.
One of the questions was, 'I think my husband is gay, he is always out at parties dancing and having fun. What can I do?'
I think the answer was somewhere along the lines of, Can you not join him when he goes to the parties?
Completely different meaning back in the '40's.
