Am curious as to why you think any goverment Scotland, England Wales or all the other countrys that have had restrictions would want to do that. Its an excuse for what sort of thing? (And its not goverment who decides whether a GP sees patients )

//OMG, we've had a lull in covid threads lately as people learn to live with it and now this - fuel for the usual posters to get on the moral high ground yet again.//
yes but even this goverment which was keen to open things up and release restrictions faster than Wales and Scotland and against advice of scientists is accepting that things are looking a bit concerning again with rapid rises in infections, a new version of delta variant, 10% increase per week in hopsital cases and significant rises in deaths DESPITe all the vaccinations and now flue and winter is approaching spots going to get worse. They ignored scientific and medical advice last year and have been criticised in that report, theyd be foolish to ignore it again now the evidence is getting stronger of problems looming. Its right they keep an open mind and warn us that some restriction's hopefully not too bad, may be needed. Sqad knows whats right. We could be sleepwalking into trouble as we're so lax compared to other country's now in terms of guidance, masks and social responsibilty

I didn't at any point say governments decide on whether or not doctors see patients, I actually meant if they start reintroducing restrictions then it will be another excuse for the doctors not to have face to face appointments. Not that mine need another excuse. They want to, bobb, to prove they can do, they re determined to drag this virus out for as long as they can.
To all the ABers who say that we must learn to live with this virus, I say that you are quite CORRECT.
But what does " living with the virus" mean?
It means:
the mandatory wearing of masks.
the strict compliance of social distancing.
the vaccination of the population.
working at home wherever possible.
That's what living with the virus means.
The virus is still out there, cases are rising, hospitals are coming under pressure and doubts about the vaccines efficacy are coming to the fore. It is a dangerous virus and as the spread increases so will the variants and believe me on variant may put two fingers up to the vaccines.
Have you little squabbles over the minutiae of this subject but remember we are still in the middle of a dangerous pandemic due to a virus that we still have a lot to learn about.
Happy Christmas.

No, on the same grounds as before. The problem is that mask-wearers feel empowered to come up close to you and shove by you when you are trying to maintain distance.
I don't take kindly to efforts by the gov't. to pressurise us however. and at the moment an about to do a Marie-Antoinette and shriek the Covid equivalent of 'Let them eat cake!'. I can't see that changing b.t.w.. I will disobey any further Covid restrictions if they stop me continuing my (quiet) life. We'd rather live out our remaining years as we wish (OH is 88 and hasn't that many remaining).
Our little choir (3 octogenarians out of 6) is one of the few that have survived and we are back to performing. So many choirs have folded that we are in great demand to sing around churches and chapels. Another lockdown would deal a death-blow to a simple, basic cultural practice and relationship, The loss of history and tradition is simply not worth it.
Definitely 'No'. I will ignore as much as possible and if my kids get consciences then we will visit them at Christmas!

The covid infection is unfortunately out of control again.
Javid is saying wear a mask, meet outdoors again or there will be lockdown and restrictions on meeting at Christmas again.
Our hospitality sector cannot afford another restricted Christmas, so just follow the advice - wear a mask, meet outdoors, and get a booster if it is available.
End of.
