Wrong Priorities
A few parents default on School Dinner debts, so the headmaster sends out a letter stating no meals for any child where the debt is more than 1p.
In order to justify this, and respond to complaints, he is then quoted as saying,"Any shortfall in the budget for school meals will have to be made up by the school which could mean fewer books and resources for all pupils because of debts run up by a few."
So he uses up these precious school funds sending out a letter to all parents - that must have cost the equivalent of quite a few "books and resources".

//So he uses up these precious school funds sending out a letter to all parents - that must have cost the equivalent of quite a few "books and resources".// My guess is the cost was close to zero as sent either by parent mail so no paper copy or is given to pupils.
They have to inform people of what might happen. Otherwise the same people would complain ' why didnt they write to tell us...?' and some would ask whys the school not doing more to reduce the amount there owed
