Rainbow Crossing To Celebrate Transgender Awareness Week
Everyone recognises a Zebra crossing as a safe place to cross the road, but Camden Council has decided to celebrate Transgender Awareness Week by painting this one in bright colours. If I came across it I would assume it's a bit of artwork so I wonder what would happen if a driver didn't recognise it as an official crossing and ran someone over?
Whoever came up with this potty - and dangerous - idea needs their bumps felt.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Vulcan, according to the link to Legislation.gov provided by Danny, only Zebra crossings are marked by black and white stripes, all other pedestrian crossings do not have any such strictures as a simple survey of our streets will show. If the only way that anyone identifies a crossing is by the road colour then there is something amiss.
According to their statement...
// Some of the key steps we have taken are:
To ensure the design is simple, with three colours and not complicated in layout.
To ensure essential road markings remain fully clear and ‘Look Left, Look Right’ markings are maintained.
To lay the crossings at signalised crossings, not zebra crossings.
To keep standard traffic features in place at the crossings including signals, stoplines and studs. //
Everything that is required and normally in place to ensure safety and so that it is still recognised as a crossing is there. What more is needed?
If you, as a driver, are assuming it's a bit of artwork then you are possibly not a very careful driver.

untitled, it's not a zebra crossing. A zebra crossing is an entirely different crossing. For a start there are no lights on a zebra crossing aside from Belisha beacons. This is a zebra crossing: https:/ /tinyur l.com/y vw2hfey
