Many people have plummy voices and are normal working people. He went to private school -this gives pupils confidence, they do public speaking and debating, to make it easier for them later in their careers.
This is the same as judging someone from Liverpool or Newcastle as thick because they have a regional accent , or every cockney must have market stall or drive a Taxi. He may be 'posh' to some, but I think more people would trust him to represent the UK than the blond baffoon we have at the moment.

I couldn't give a damn about how his voice sounds, rather than the words that come from his mouth. Whether his seemingly high faluting image is genuine or whether it's an act, I wouldn't know, but he comes across as someone living in a different world to the average person. Out of touch with the reality of everyday living.
I agree JRM lives in a different world -as does Boris -or do we all pay £9800 for a sofa or £3000 for an occasional table? Boris comes from the same world as JRM, the only difference is Boris has nurtured his 'persona' to try and conjure up empathy with the common people. Its well-known he rumples his hair and tie before interviews, it's all an act. I think 'what you see is what you get' with JRM. I'd rather judge someone, negatively or positively, on their true personality, not one devised by the PR department.
