Two Met Police Officers jailed for 2 years 9 months for taking photos of the murdered woman.

How on earth did they not realise that the photographs would eventually surface? Anything put on the internet is there for ever and can come back and damage you at any time. Just look at all the historical tweets that have been found and ruined careers.

Indeed, GG. It's worrying that such dim and ignorant men could be in the position they were.
And as for jail...what they did to those two young women. What they put the families of the girls through. I'd be pleased for it to be longer.

I agree with david small. The loss of their jobs and pensions is surely enough punishment A prison sentence of over two years is a little harsh.

Two murdered sisters deserved the dignity of those in public office charged with preserving the scene doing their job
They did not warrant having their pictures taken for morbid fascination to be passed around in a game of one upmanship in a WhatsApp group

Let this be a lesson to those in public office
Live up to what you are tasked with and volunteered for
The sentence will go some way in restoring public faith which has been shaken to the core this year by the antics of police officers abusing their powers

I think what they did was grossly offensive and disrespectful to the extreme and quite frankly deserve everything they get. I was hoping they would have got double the sentence

If it were two members of the public who had photographed themselves with mutilated corpses, then I am sure those who are pleading that prison is OTT, would not be doing so, and instead insisting these sickos should be off the streets.
But they are Police Officers so respect for the police trumps respect for victims of an heinous crime.
The Police response to the missing sisters was pathetic and useless*, so this just adds insult to injury.

Am i the only one who thinks the jail terms are excessive. They have not injured or hurt anyone but have shown great disrespect, criminals have done worse and received less sentences. should a 1 year term have been enough?.

No excessive, William? Others getting lighter sentences should not matter.
They hurt badly a family and many friends. Would you like your daughters treated that way? Having the face of a police officer who should be caring for her remains imposed on her dead body and shared with laughter on his phone.....calling them dead birds.
It isn't long enough.

Try and imagine your own outrage and disbelief if such an event happened to your family ?
You would expect a doctor to treat you if you were ill
You would reasonably expect a police officer to guard the scene of a heinous double murder and not desecrate the victims by taking happy snaps for morbid pleasure
Confidence in the police is shaky at best
What these two did seriously undermines everything that good police officers do
Their sentences are just
