Nasty Nicola Threatening Scotland Again
77 Answers
Nasty Nicola held a briefing today, which I am sure she lover every second of threatening all sorts of potential changes in the coming days, tighter restrictions on social gatherings, a cobra meeting this afternoon where she is going to ask for more cash if businesses are going to shut down etc. One thing she said that came out of her loud mouth "We don't know how seriously unwell or mildly unwell people are going to be with the Omicron variant " clearly she doesn't have the facts. So why is she predicting dire events and potentially ruining peoples events. ?

None of the Covidians are scientists - but they love the restrictions. I just find that odd.

Difficult times.
What do we know and not know?
The new variant will be the prominent variant by the end of next week.
We know it is spreading exponentially over 2-3 days.
We don't think it causes severe illness....at the moment.
Our only defence is vaccines and basic public health measures.
Even with two vaccinations and a Pfizer booster we are talking about 70-75% protection against Omicron (my instinct tells me 50%).....
We need everything going for us......and more.

Zoe Harcombe PhD! Who she?
"I’m a researcher, author, blogger and public speaker in the field of diet and health. My particular areas of interest/expertise are public health dietary guidelines (especially dietary fat), nutrition and obesity. I also do quite a few media interviews – TV, radio, newspapers and magazines – plenty of examples here. (Any media requests – please tweet @zoeharcombe and please try again if I don’t get back to you quickly enough, in case I’ve missed it in notifications – many thanks)."
Not impressed, thank you.

Funny isn't it atheist how some put more trust in an unknown one voice poster on social media than in the vast majority of scientists and doctors and epidemiologists. Ywt I bet they accept advice on order issues from there surgeon or gp. The same ones also usually distrust climate change scientists and prefer crackpot youtubers
It's a human tendency to believe what we want to believe, rather than believe what we don't want to believe. Tories here believe that Johnson is honest and competent, and charismatic and caring towards his fellow humans. If he wasn't, they'd have been taken for mugs, and so they believe it.
I, on the contrary, sometimes believe what I don't want to believe (see the above).
