I suppose. I'm not sure why it should be a postman's job to help the elderly, though, it's not as if they're police or ambulance. Are they trainedin first aid? What happens if he'd tried and dropped the woman - would Royal Mail be liable for any further injuries? Would he?

He could have made an effort to assist the lady, tired or not, he should have helped her, I'm sure he could have made a call to get her help, they all have mobile phones on them.

^ Who said he had to pick her up ?? What happened to common decency, i.e. going to a neighbour for help or calling an ambulance or even asking for her permission to go into her house to get something warm to put over he in the cold ?? Nobody with an ounce of compassion is their being would have just walked away and left her there !! So glad he has been sacked.

Sometimes you can't believe what you're reading on here.

Firstly, I am glad they have made this decision.

We are all humans, is it not our instinct to help or at least get help for someone in distress.

Perhaps, apart from any medical personnel or the police, it is nobody's job. However, this excuse of a human did not alert anyone to the woman's plight and for that his employer has said he did not show the highest standards expected of Royal Mail employees.

Would he expect anyone else to be bothered to help him in his hour of need?
