Actually, I believe LH is among the top 5,000 taxpayers in the UK. But it doesn't matter if he's not. Everybody and every business has an absolute duty to minimise their tax liabilities. So long as their strategies are not illegal they have every right (and I would say a responsibility) to keep as much of their own money as possible to themselves. Quite why anybody should be criticised for doing so is quite beyond me. I shelter as much of my income as I can from the Exchequer. It won't be quite as much as Lewis manages, but I make sure I pay not a penny more in tax than I must. If I had the opportunity to shift some of my income abroad to minimise my tax I would not hesitate to do so. I can spend my money far more wisely than any government can and if they don't have enough to squander they must alter the tax regime (and put their proposals before Parliament).
