Has the world gone completely mad and, supplemental, when did Americans become arbiters of taste, style and decent behaviour?

is that really a "sport"?
The trans brigade is becoming more pathetic by the day. It would serve them right if they end up with everyone telling them to put a sock in it and no one taking them seriously.
...they have a tent pole between their legs!

..and that's just the guys.
How utterly ridiculous ! Poor JK. I hope she's laughing at them all for the idiots they really are.

Hard to laugh at the death threats she's receiving, Shirley.
The world gets more insane by the day. Thank God JKR still has her marbles.
If I remember rightly the game in the stories involves flying, do they not have tent poles that fly?
The newly appointed chair of Ofcom, Paul Dacre has a monumental task if he is to attempt to move the present BBC's management from its position of Wokist, (+Tory, Brexit) hating agenda.
This is such a trivial non-story which has been dug up to keep fanning the flames of a fire which few people give a damn about. (imo)
I saw this yesterday and just let it pass me by. Meh.

All well and good having a laugh at the expense of the creme de la creme of the US and their earnest pursuit of excellence in an imaginary thing but spare a thought for anyone who unwittingly enters into a conversation with one of them, they look so normal when not in sports kit so no obvious signs of puke-inducing 'sincerity'.
Doesn't really matter what they eventually call themselves or their game. It will forever be linked to JKR.

Until the book burning, Ken.
Bet they read 'em before burning, though, Douglas :-J
if grown "men" are prepared to make a "sport" out of a game in a children's book I would suggest those "men" have much bigger problems than throwing a tantrum about the opinion of the author.
It's pathetic. No matter what they name the sport, it doesn't change the fact they're playing something the JKR invented.

//The trans brigade is becoming more pathetic by the day//

It's not "the Trans brigade" behind the proposed name change. It's other people virtue signalling.
Kardashev - You've never played Pooh Sticks then?
Question Author
I did, but not to university level.

"The joint statement from USQ and MLQ said they hoped the name change would help them to "continue to distance themselves from the works of JK Rowling", who they say "has increasingly come under scrutiny for her anti-trans positions in recent years.""

JKR has stated 100% cast-iron undeniable facts - on what planet can it be "anti-trans" by stating facts?
