Very confusing signals coming from the government
Should we go out tomorrow night and get suitably imbibed ?
Or wait for the impending lockdown ?

Going to a pub/club on New Years Eve is the last thing in the world I would consider doing - with or without the pandemic.
Numbers of deaths are falling, numbers in hospital are manageable - why waste money on extra facilities that we don't have staffing for?

Your are, I hope, a reasonably sane, logical and responsible individual - it's our choice.
The place that I am involved with has cancelled it late licence and disco and will close at the normal time - they're expecting it to be very quiet as who wants to go out and not celebrate - my view is that they may be pleasantly surprised by folk wanting a quiet meal without the hordes of pishhed folk jowl to jowl in a bar or on a dance-floor.

Thank goodness they've managed to find all the extra nurses and doctors needed to run their white elephants.
That's been some game of hide and seek.
I imagine Mr Johnson was casting around for something impressive that the devolved nations hadn't already done and this nonsense is what he was left with.
When I say 'Mr Johnson' I mean Carrie, obvs.

If you read Hugh Pym's article it clearly states:
This is not a revival of the Nightingale hospitals set up at the height of the pandemic in the spring of 2020.
Back then, large venues such as conference centres were pressed into service for an anticipated surge in seriously ill Covid patients.
But they were little used as major hospitals preferred to hold on to staff to deal with Covid pressures rather than lend them to the Nightingales.
This time temporary structures will be set up in the grounds of hospitals so staff, equipment and emergency departments are close at hand.
Only those patients who are close to being discharged and need minimal support will be cared for at these facilities.

The perceived, or subliminal "message" is from the enaichess.
"NHS bosses have revealed plans for eight new Nightingale hubs at hospitals in England to treat a predicted influx of Covid patients with Omicron.
The temporary structures will have 100 beds and are being built on hospital grounds this week."

// Credit where credit is due in finding the medical staff to * run* these hospitals.//
these extra beds are at long last looked on as things like hospital trolley or x ray machine
and not a functioning unit until staffed - - at long last!
and so.... they are saying they are convalescent beds for those on their way out - - no not dying, being discharged !
