I can only reiterate my earlier point - if governments spent time justifying their spending to the tax payer, they would never do anything else.
Sometimes we have to accept that decisions are made for valid reasons.
The government are not stupid, they know that this would be a potential PR grenade if it could not be explained and justified, so it has been, and it was.

To be fair to Canary, there is no indication that this is a direct quote - rather more an assumption on behalf of the FS as to her attitude towards her travel.
