There is no accounting for stupidity - I am reminded of the paediatricia ns attacked because some people mistook that occupation for paedophiles! That said, it's because some people are so stupid and listen to any old lie that someone like the PM has to be careful with his language. There have been enough MPs murdered in the last few years, on both sides.

Also from the link provided :
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has been bundled into the back of a police car after being confronted by protesters shouting "traitor" and "Jimmy Savile" at him.
In video footage posted on social media, the Labour leader was seen walking near to parliament surrounded by police officers while being mobbed by a group.
At one point in the footage, a member of the group surrounding Sir Keir - some of whom were protesting against COVID restrictions - shouted: "Why did you let Jimmy Savile off?"

Conservative MP Julian Smith, who served as a cabinet minister under Mr Johnson, posted on Twitter: "What happened to Keir Starmer tonight outside parliament is appalling.
"It is really important for our democracy and for his security that the false Savile slurs made against him are withdrawn in full."
Another BOB who can see no wrong in Boris

The clown is a stain on our parliament and the worst PM the office has ever seen

Damn
Link not working now
From the first paragraph of it :
Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s prime minister, called Julian Smith “one of Britain’s finest politicians of our time”, but on Thursday Boris Johnson dismissed him from his post as Northern Ireland secretary.
Only last month Mr Smith was being garlanded as “Minister of the Year” by the Spectator magazine for his role in bringing the Stormont assembly in Belfast back to life after three years in the deep freeze.
Sounds a decent bloke
