There is no accounting for stupidity - I am reminded of the paediatricia ns attacked because some people mistook that occupation for paedophiles! That said, it's because some people are so stupid and listen to any old lie that someone like the PM has to be careful with his language. There have been enough MPs murdered in the last few years, on both sides.

I accept Keir Starmer's apologies for the failure of the CPS to prosecute Savile, which happened on his watch. He admitted the failure to prosecute Savile was a 'watershed moment' for the organisation which he was then head of. He said: 'I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the shortcomings in the part played by the CPS in these cases." I can understand why the feelings of protestors run high, but he has apologised for the failings, and we cannot turn the clock back, however much Captain Hindsight may wish to.
I promise that that link has been "updated" after the first time I opened it. The first paragraph had no such content and there are further "anecdotes" that were not there. There is now also an analysis by Jon Craig that was not there.( I do not use the usual search engines) Nothing changes though. Starmer was in charge when the decision not to prosecute Saville was made amongst other "failures" of the department. His responsibility ... he even says that must be the case. Bless.
P.S. it wasn't the "other" Corbyn was it? You know the anti vax zealot, peace noodle weaver zealot.

Also from that link :
One insider in the Conservative party whips office said “As a former chief, Julian was aware of everything we were doing to try and get the Brexit deal through. I don’t think he approved of Downing Street’s more aggressive methods to win around MPs.”

Hmmm
Why does that sound familiar ? ! Lol

I guess you have to keep your finger on the pulse on a breaking news story as more and more detail becomes available
Bit like the Gray inquiry ?

Further update Togo :
Responding to Mr Smith, fellow Tory MP Robert Largan - who was elected to parliament as part of Mr Johnson's landslide 2019 general election victory - said: "I agree with Julian. Words matter.
"What we say & how we say it echoes out far beyond parliament. It can have serious real world consequences.
"Elected representatives have a responsibility to lower the temperature of debate, not add fuel to the fire."
Some just ‘get it’ I suppose ?

Avatar Image AtheistI'm sure that Johnson will do the decent thing (as did Trump after the Capitol insident) and condemn these people. :-)

Why is Sky trying to push forward the idea that some of the mob were only there to shout about Savile?
——-
Because in all probability that was their only reason to be there ?
Lord Walney, the former MP and the government's independent adviser on political violence and disruption, said: "The footage of Sir Keir Starmer being hounded tonight is disturbing, as is the way some of his pursuers picked up on the Jimmy Savile slur.
"This is surely a moment for the PM and all those who have defended those words to reflect and withdraw."
Others added :
Senior Conservative backbencher Sir Roger Gale, who has submitted a letter of no confidence in Mr Johnson, expressed his fear that the "grim scenes" were "the direct result of the deliberately careless use of language" in the Commons chamber.
Tobias Ellwood, another senior Tory MP who wants a confidence vote on Mr Johnson's leadership, called on the prime minister to apologise and added: "Let's stop this drift towards a Trumpian style of politics from becoming the norm. We are better than this."
Seems that Gray 2.0 and the Met enquiry cannot happen soon enough in the eyes of many
