I was going to post this in “politics” as it isn’t strictly news but a “what if” and not normally the sort of question I like. But that doesn’t appear to have changed yet.
But I’ve been pondering it a bit lately and so thought I’d raise it
TTT, you're having a 'bubble'. All Trump ever did was to weaken NATO at every opportunity while siding with Putin against his own FBI's intelligence on Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
it's not what Trump would have done but Putin's perception of him. Putin would have to tread really carefully, he doesn't want WW3 either. At the moment he thinks we are a bunch of Liberals with no stomach for a fight that can be walked all over. Sadly Ukraine will be invaded the west will do nothing militarily. We'll arm the Ukrainians alright and hammer them with sanctions but in the end it wont matter. Thousands will die on both sides in a protracted guerilla war.
I certainly agree that Trump's unpredictability would not necessarily be a bad thing when it comes to Putin.
I always thought that.
When he said that stuff about the US intelligence services that Ken refers to, I suspoect that was as much a case of someone who agrees with whoever he happens to be talking to at the time :-)
But mention of a summit and there I think I'd much rather Biden that Trump: for the above reason
Putin took Trump as a fool, and would have already invaded by now. Trump would say Russia’s grievances are genuine and the US should stay out of the conflict, and his supporters would support him in no more foreign wars.
NATO, the UK, or the US are not going to come to Ukraine’s aid if Russia invades. The will covertly supply the Ukrainians with weapons, intel and training.
Putin will not be much bothered by sanctions compared to his gains. Cheesy Liz will pretend to be very cross and Putin will piece himself laughing at her.
I don’t agree at all.
In any case if Trump would have been so compliant to Putin’s wishes surely that would mean Putin would have withdrawn?
You can’t have it both ways
