Do they do any sort of interviewing, and weeding out, at all, or do they just take anyone who walks into the room? If I was interviewed for a job in Antarctica, and said I couldn't stand cold, I wouldn't have been hired; presumably your job interviews go along similar lines.
I have no idea what the doctors will say about the claim, but as things stand, the MoD risks having to pay out £1.5m because they didn't know or didn't care that a man they took on wasn't up to the job. That can't be right. This sort of thing needs to be sorted long before the courts are dragged into it.

My, how the army has changed since I served. We had regular exercises on Luneberg Heath in mid-winter where it was so cold that the only way you could get a shave was by turning on a vehicle's engine and draining off some hot water from the radiator. We slept in non-heated tents and nobody ever complained. This complainant should be shown short shrift.
//Christopher Barnes, alleges Mr Iygeudu was 'more vulnerable' than others to developing a cold-related injury due to his Nigerian heritage//
I wonder what would be said if, in consideration of their well-being, the army automatically rejected all applications from people of African heritage in future?
PP, what on earth are you on about? Most of what you post is irrelevant to anything.

if it was done "automatically" it would be said, correctly, that it was racist.
It would also leave a few holes in the ranks that would have to be filled from other continents, though doubtless it would save money if they weren't.
