Sanctions and cultural boycotts have never achieve anything.
It didn’t stop apartheid in South Africa, it didn’t stop Israel persecuting the Palestinian people.
But it does enable helpless and impotent observers make a token gesture.
Cultural boycotts of course will be a powerful tool long term

But this isn’t a “cultural boycott” it’s just a pointless gesture
Perhaps we should reverse the result of the Referendum and the last General Election since they were financed by the Russians.

Lunacy. I feel tired.
I think, if I had tickets to that concert, bought a few months ago, then my enjoyment would be somewhat diminished by sitting listening to the 1812 Overture, with all that entails, written by a Russian, in the current circumstances.

Would anyone, at the mo, want to listen to a composer who, more than any other, is symbolic of Russian cultural heritage?

I get that PT's Russia was not VP's Russia. But, still ...

Maybe we should only embrace Russia's cultural heritage when Russia embrace an image of a world that is very different from the one they are currently pursuing?

Why don't they just do the concert and give some of the proceeds to Ukrainian aid charities? That way Tchaikovsky is anti-Putin.
They are doing a concert, just not Tchaikovsky. Perhaps the musicians didn't have the heart to be playing music representing Russian cannonfire.
It is pretty pathetic though.
The poor souls.
It's a gesture, that's all. It's not hurting Russia - it's simply depriving audiences of spectacular music.
