Yesterday Boris Johnson lost his Party.

- Tory MPs rebelled to force a Parliamentary Inquiry into Partygate.
- A senior Tory told Boris ‘The gig is up’.
- Downing Street tried to avert the disaster, and made it worse.
- Hardly any MPs turned up in the Commons to defend their leader.
- Those that did turn up were highly critical of Johnson.
- The Tories set the whips on Conservative MPs, and lost.
- There was no vote in the end because there were no Tory MPs to oppose it.

This mornings headlines will be uncomfortable reading for the PM.

It may be a bun fight for the Westminster lot but I think folks in the rest of the country will be wondering why they aren't concentrating more on important national & international issues. If I was Boris I would call a GE (I'm sure he would get enough support for one) and ask THE COUNTRY to back me or sack me.

The House is full of new Conservative MPs and the last thing they want now is a general election and be unemployed. They are never going to vote for one, and without them, it is never going to happen.

107 tory MPs were newly elected in 2019 (not all from marginals). With the remaining 252 tories plus Labour and the SNP (who surely daren't vote down a GE) there would be enough to overrule the fixed term parliament act.

If the Cons get slaughtered at the Local Elections in May... which I sincerly hope they are.
It will be the end of Boris.

The problem with kicking all your problems down the road is that eventually they will all meet and hit you at once.
The Police will not issue anymore fines now until after the local elections on the 5th of May.
So the middle of the following week the next fines will be levied. Assuming they are the final fines (surely the police cannot drag this out any long) then Sue Grey’s report can be published in full on Thursday 12th May.
And Friday 13th would be a very appropriate time to go.

Yep the talent pool is very small which is the only thing stopping real tory MPs getting rid of this imposter.

In 2005 the party chose David Cameron, who was untainted by IDS and Howard, and beat Kenneth Clarke, David Davis, Liam Fox, Alan Duncan, Malcolm Rifkind and Tim Yeo. Cameron was far less experienced than the rest of the candidates, and far less well known. He came across as a breath of fresh air and a break from failed leaders who had lost 3 General elections.

Maybe another Cameron candidate will emerge, someone not currently in the Johnson coterie.
