In actual fact there was no propaganda effect: Putin plainly didn't want Guterres there, and he showed his comtempt for him and the UN by bombing Kyiv while the SG was still in the city.

I cannot find any reference to Boris Johnson criticising the visit. It is what I would expect the UN General Secretary to do.

And he should have visited Kyiv first if he did have to go.
He made a fool of himself and of the UN.
It’s not the UN’s fault of course that we have a rogue world leader bent on genocide but visits like this merely emphasise how powerless it is in the face of such evil

He was right to be sceptical. It ought to be obvious to anyone that these diplomatic efforts are a waste of time. Ask President Macron.
Diplomatic channels yes, but nothing more. Putin ploughs his own furrow.
Guterres should only have gone to Kyiv.
There was no propaganda as it turned out as I pointed out above

The problem is clearly is clearly in Moscow, so it makes sense to start there.
The UN Secretary General did go to Kyiv afterwards. Putin lobbed a couple of missiles that fell nearby.

The missiles were aimed at the Artem military factory which is actually quite close to the British consulate and the TV tower hit a few weeks ago.
