It was bad weather preventing crossings, not the Government’s policy. A 254 is a shocking number, that is nearly the figure for the whole of 2018.
// The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it had detected seven boats carrying 254 migrants on Sunday. However, it said it did not believe any migrants arrived "on their own terms" in a small boat. //
That means none of them reached our coast and were not able disappear into the night to work illegally. They were intercepted and taken into custody.
The figures so far this year are looking a lot worse than last year when over 28,000 came.
It is about time Patel resigned in shame. A half decent leader would have sacked her months ago.

// They should have been taken immediately to a waiting plane bound for Africa //
Very sad that you believe the clap trap.
It is a pre-election gimmick and will be forgotten Friday morning. The £120 million that the Government have allocated would mean only about 50 refugees would go to Rwanda. So one fifth of those arriving yesterday would go, leaving 200 still here when the money ran out.
