One of the ways it manifests itself, is with the apparent need for a section of the community, in this case women, to form attachments to what society perceives as utterly reprehensible specimens of the opposite genital group.
For a woman attracted to someone like this, the reasons are deep and complex, and mostly beyond the comprehension of the average person.
I believe that they revolve entirely around the need to address those deep-seated feelings of inadequacy.
Such a woman can engage in what she perceives as a 'relationship' with absolutely none of the normal involvements that occur with a normal relationship between a man and a woman.
The relationship is conducted entirely at a distance.
There is none of the physical, possibly not even verbal, interaction that create and grow a relationship, so a feeling of 'safety' is felt by the woman concerned.
In addition, there is an inbuilt level of 'security' - the man is unable to be 'unfaithful' in the conventional sense, since he is denied any and all contact with any woman, excepting those who are paid to look after him.
To people who do enjoy normal relationships in their lives, these 'pseudo-connections' appear to be nothing more that simple attention-seeking, but I believe that this is not the main driving force behind such a coupling.
I see it as obsessive behaviour, where a woman can devote all her time to the man she 'loves'.
She is unlikely to have many, if any, relationships, because it is the inability to form normal connections that drives this fantasy, so she can fill her thoughts and time with the notion that she 'loves' this person when clearly his situation and history has proven beyond doubt that he is incapable of anything approaching a normal loving commitment.
It's an odd quirk of personality, but it is hugely common, with women, and men, forming imagined emotional 'connections' to people whom society considers to be demons in human form.
We need to see it for what it is, a mental illness, probably exploited by the subjects involved who similarly have nothing else with which to occupy their time.
A 'marriage' made in hell, which hopefully will be prevented, for the overall benefit of all involved.
