Where Is The Condemnation? Or Does This Lack Of Condemnation Suggest Tacit Approval?

When an Islamist extremist commits an act of terrorism, some claim that a lack of condemnation from ordinary Muslims is tantamount to tacit approval.

When a white extremist carries out a bloodthirsty racist attack - should we expect the same condemnation from white people?

It's sad that many Americans show more respect for the 2nd Amendment than they do for the concept that people should be able to go about their lives in peace. I think after the Sandy Hook shootings it became clear nothing was going to chance.

Damn savage should never see the light of day again.
first I've heard of this, happy to not tacitly approve.
no, because we'd be wasting our time. When white Americans do bad things it's because they're American. When Muslim Americans (or those in other countries) do bad things it's because they're Muslims.

Because their American?

Okay.
Muslims have something in common - a religion. 'White people', as you describe them, apart from being 'white', do not have a common link. My expectation would be that every right thinking person, regardless of creed or colour, would - and should - condemn this atrocity.

I certainly do (condemn this terrorist attack).

Do you?

And white supremacists have one thing in common...they're white. They share the same racial identity.

Anders Breivik is another white supremacist and terrorist. You're right...the link is not religion but their ideology is based on their race - so surely other white people should shout clearly and loudly, "Not in my name".
SP, Your question was about 'white people' - not about white supremacists - who, like Muslims, do have a common link. As far as I'm concerned the ideology of the white supremacist is not based on their race. I'm white and it isn't my ideology - nor, I'd hazard an educated guess, that of most other white people. To intimate otherwise is an insult.

Ordinary white people to white supremacist is the same as ordinary Muslims to Islamic extremists.

Islamic extremists commit terrorist acts in support of their warped ideology - adherence to a doctrine where Islam is the dominant religion.

White supremacists commit terrorist acts in support of their warped ideology - adherence to a doctrine where white is the dominant race.

You wrote:

"the ideology of the white supremacist is not based on their race"

Not sure what you mean by that.

Also - I note you've yet to bring yourself to condemn this outrageous racist attack.

Did I read you right...did you actually say that [white supremacists] like Muslims, do have a common link.

You don't mean that ordinary non-extremist Muslims are equivalent to white supremacists did you?

I'm sure I've misunderstood, but want to confirm.
sp, Is a member of the indigenous population of say, Britain, who doesn't want to see his country's identity dissolved into a mish-mash, of so called multi-culturalism of alien cultures of whatever ethnicity, a 'white suprematist' in your eyes?
NAOMI stated, "My expectation would be that every right thinking person, regardless of creed or colour, would - and should - condemn this atrocity."

She has condemned the shooting.
SP. // I note you've yet to bring yourself to condemn this outrageous racist attack. //

That really is a pretty disgusting implication, SP, but coming from you par for the course. Which bit of //My expectation would be that every right thinking person, regardless of creed or colour, would - and should - condemn this atrocity. // don't you understand?
so we are all white supremacists because we didn't condemn this savage quickly enough! Right oh!

naomi24

Totally agree with you.

The implication is disgusting.

It's as disgusting as believing that Muslims who don't immediately condemn terrorists attacks by Islamic extremists are giving their tacit approval.

But back to your earlier point...did I misunderstand you when you wrote:

"the ideology of the white supremacist is not based on their race"

and

[white supremacists] like Muslims, do have a common link.

TTT

No absolutely not.

In the same way that Muslim as not extremists simply because they're Muslims.

My point is - if Muslims have to vocally condemn terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists then white people should equally do the same when white extremists carry out terrorist attacks.

But I don't think that should be true at all. I don't think Muslims need to be saying "Not in my name" and I don't think that white people should do the same. I just wonder why Muslims are help to a higher standard?
sp, why are you trying to start a TROP discussion? This is about a US racists loony. We condemn it unreservedly as would any right thinking person. Now stop trying to start a fight.
sp: "My point is - if Muslims have to vocally condemn terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists then white people should equally do the same when white extremists carry out terrorist attacks. " - yes and we have.
All Americans, white or otherwise, do have another common link - the Second Amendment. I would hope that there is an outcry from all people to such an atrocity.

If you are on a digging thread, sp, don't be surprised that some here might not bother to answer you.

You’re asking a question that has little to with the point we’re discussing but here goes…if someone buys a gun and uses it to specifically kill black people whilst live-streaming the act on Twitch and who has posted his white supremacist doctrine online, then I’d go ahead and say yes - they’re a white supremacist.

What you’re referring to is what id call a racial purist.

Actually - thinking about it. I’m not sure.
One could be forgiven for thinking that you revel in this muddled thinking sp
