You would think that the British government have got better things to sort, would you not? They are now considering going back to Pounds and ounces.
Have they no Idea or even considered what confusion it will create.

We've been educating kids for god knows how long in kilograms, most older people have got to grips with it or just learned to live with it, so now just throw a spanner in the works.
God knows how much it will cost all sorts of businesses to make changes, an expense most could do without.

It's a worthless idea that doesn't warrant our Government's time and effort. The elderly are certainly capable of figuring out weights and measures using the metric system. There is no value in this idea.

It's pandering.

If we reintroduce imperial measures, at what point do we phase them out again?
well, I'll concede that if you go to a French veg shop, you can often hear the expression, 'une livre si vous plait' - as in a pound but referring to 500g...... shillings and pence and whatever, they're probably in QEII's handbag at the bottom - but I thought they were her hat designers?

If we reintroduced a two-tier system for weights, how would consumers compare prices?

Costs for dual packaging would be borne by consumers. Is that fair for those of us who grew up with the metric system?

What about the chances of mistakes being made due to the conversion process?
DTC, :o)

SP, you’ll manage.
Luckily I was brought up the (far more sensible) metric system.

The imperial system is nonsense.

Thank God we got away from it.

...and it looks like even Conservative thinker see through this proposal for what it is...sleight of hand nonsense.

Great idea imo. They should revert back to imperial liquid measurements to, scare the living carp out of you when you see how much a gallon of petrol or diesel is.
Shrug.
^that to sp.

Tony, they’re not going back to imperial measures. Read the thread and get a grip.
and get a grip.

On what !
Reality.
LOL, I think I know the reality of things at the moment.
Tonyav, get a grip on your shiny new leather wallet with spaces marked for 10, 5, and 1 pound notes, plus one marked 10 shillings:)
Still got my old one, sanmac ;-)
See, you kept it in anticipation of the future.
Any moths in it, Tony? :o)
To right, I remember my vote in 74, sanmac :-)
Pandering.

Sad that some have fallen for this.

Nooooo, they escaped years ago.
Haha! Freedom!!! :o)
