.....Surely any referendum will be illegal?? If so surely the NO brigade will simply boycott it making the result a farce.

Anybody but that ragbag of self-regarding, virtue signalling, vested interest incompetents who have somehow wheedled their way out of local councils and into national government, Steg. They're peddling a pipe dream with no answers as to how it can be fulfilled other than comparing Scotland to other small nations and telling the faithful that we can be...

Just last week she sent a minion out to whine that there wasn't any money for pretty much anything but now she's going to pyss away what there is down the back of the couch on this latest dross.

Sturgeon has had her day, nobody except the blue-faced Braveheart types listens to her any more unless they're on wages.

Get your legal advice hen, then get tae.
If the 'No' brigade boycotts it, she'll get her wish and it will be bye bye Scotland from the rest of us.

No naomi, it wont, even the wee un would not expect anyone to believe a 99% win. It ain't Zimbabwe.
What do you think would happen then? Would she declare the vote 'void'? I don't think so.
Question Author
no the courts would.
Question Author
well it's illegal anyway.
Question Author
Is we follow the Spanish example she could end up in the nick!
Question Author
IF!
Why would the courts declare it void? People are free to choose whether to vote or not. A low turnout, or an overwhelming vote for one side, doesn't negate the result.
Question Author
The No side would argue that it was an illegal vote and thus they did not want to be complicit in it.

in Cumbernauld, pretty much - allegedly......
But I'm not sure that's how it would be regarded, TTT. Her claim that circumstances have changed since the last vote is right. They have. Scotland wanted to remain in the EU. The rest of us took them out. If push came to shove I can't see any court disputing that. She won't end up in prison, that's for sure.

but the courts won't reason like that. The vote was UK wide, you cannot cherry pick areas in isolation and say they did not agree with the overall outcome. It's quite clear in law that for the referendum to have any validity it must be sanctioned by the UK government like the last one was.
//the courts won't reason like that.//

I think you might be mistaken - and if they do there's every chance the rules will be changed. We'll just have to wait and see.
"Surely any referendum will be illegal??" There is already power to hold a referendum under the Referendums (Scotland) Act 2020.

Ok then, even if that was the case Douglas.. who should we vote for then?

I think that - and only that - is the reason Sturgeon is where she is. The Scots feel they have no one else to vote for.
I’m sure last time I voted there was quite a big choice
I don't doubt it.... but you rejected the others.

No.. I numbered my chosen in order like most people at Scots election
