You conned the British Public with Brexit just to get yourself elected as PM and now you are getting your Comeuppance Good riddance to bad rubbish Boris you will not be missed by me .
//OK, it wasn't a specific pledge but it created an expectation,…//
It’s just as well that the expectation was met, then. In 2015/16 (the fiscal year prior to the referendum) the annual NHS budget was £134.9bn. That’s £2,594 million per week. The current year’s budget (which, unlike the previous two years, does not include any specific allowance for Covid) is £173.8bn. That’s £3,342 million per week – an increase of £748 million per week over the 2015/15 figure. So over twice the "expectation" that was posted on the side of the bus.
//(a) Brexit is obviously not done…//
This keeps being repeated. In what way is it not “done”? As I said, the most important point is that the UK is no longer a member of the EU. That is irrefutable.
//(b) it is not necessarily the democratic will of the people as is often expressed.//
The argument about that is done. More people voted to leave the EU than voted to remain (and that was the only question they were asked). That was all that was needed. We left.

Gulliver, we need to find a 'Bojo gone' equivalent of "remoaner" for the far right contingent here ...BoMoaner perhaps?
Personally, I wanted him to do a Trump, dig his heels in and stay.
Big commiseratory hug to all of ABs far right, both active and dormant (..and ostensibly dead) hey we're all human ...aren't we? ;-)

// Thanks, naomi. At least you've accepted that it was mainly down to
'unscrupulous' advertising rather than the will of the people.//
you wait - she will clarify the opposite tomorrow
twas ever thus ( Mrs Thatcher)
Is this Brexit or "should Boris hang around like poo-poo on a blanket?" - no he shouldnt

//NJ, No point in us continually repeating ourselves but, as a matter of interest, do you think Brexit's going well?//
Absolutely. It's achieved its aim 100% as far as I am concerned. We've left the EU which is what I have yearned for for more than thirty years. That's all that matters to me. As I said earlier, whatever follows is unimportant (so long as it's not our re-engagement in any meaningful way which may lead to us coming under the influence of that pernicious organisation again). The NI Protocol needs sorting out (and preferably ditching in its entirety) as I have no wish to see any part of the UK remaining under EU law. That will come (or if it doesn't, some drastic watering down of its requirements will) and the sooner the better. Then I will be ecstatic rather than just deliriously happy.

Well that's certainly one way to claim success, set the bar that defines it so low that in reality there is no bar at all. Like the soft schools where everyone gets a medal for participating.
Sad that everyone seems to have given up on actually, god forbid, eeking some actual material good out of the whole thing.

You don't seem to understand, archy (and many Remainers never will). I expect "material good" to flow in due course as the UK's future as a normal nation pans out. I never expected any significant benefits in the short term. It's not a question of setting the bar too low. There is no bar to set other than ensuring the UK leaves.
The best thing that can happen in Europe is for the EU to be wound up and the Single Currency abandoned. The two "crowning achievements" of the Union - freedom of movement and especially the Euro - have been absolutely disastrous in many respects for most of the participants. The Euro has yet to provide its most serious consequences, but they will come in time, probably sooner rather than later now that inflation has a hold on the Continent. All artificial empires throughout history have eventually collapsed for various reasons and the EU will prove no different. The UK is best out of it before that demise begins.
