Why Do The Poltroons Clamour To Get Boris Out Immediately?
59 Answers
He's resigned you got your way. Every resigning PM in history has stayed until a successor is chosen. It is constitutionally very difficult to do anything else as I have explained about a dozen times on various posts. So why is this resignation any different to say Blair? Cameron? May? They were afforded the dignified path. Why do they want to keep putting the boot in? You won, you got your scalp, take the win and move on.

Blair's successor was already known, so there was no drama there.
Cameron calmly fell on his sword after losing the Brexit vote. There was no need for him to immediately leave No 10.
May probably wished she could've gone immediately as she cut a sorrowful figure over the last few weeks of her tenure in charge.
Boris Johnson has been usurped by his own peers. There may well be fears from within the party that he could spend the last few months shaking the hornet's nest of the Tory Party.

I agree with tcl. What is so cowardly about wanting a sad lame duck, ousted by his own party, no longer leader of that party gone in as quick a fashion as possible? We are a laughing stockmon the world stage which could have real world consequences for britajn He is not currently jn any strong positon domestically or globally, so I would yhink that any one who loves this country would want a new strong leader to take over asap. Never had you down as antibritish ttt
TTT. Try this. If you took in a paying guest who slowly started to wreck your home. Breaking things, tearing things, giving your possessions and money away, dumping rubbish in your garden, lowering the value of your property.
Would you give them three months notice or kick them out the door now?
Looking through the world news this morning it's clear how unpopular he is and bednobs is correct. He has turned your country into a broken laughing stock.

mozz: "Blair's successor was already known, so there was no drama there." - well they still had a process between him resigning and Brown taking over, it was instant only because Brown was unopposed. If there had been a contest, Blair would have stayed until the new leader was chosen.
"Cameron calmly fell on his sword after losing the Brexit vote. There was no need for him to immediately leave No 10." - Boris has done the same what's the difference?
"May probably wished she could've gone immediately as she cut a sorrowful figure over the last few weeks of her tenure in charge." - but she stayed until the successor was chosen.
"Boris Johnson has been usurped by his own peers. There may well be fears from within the party that he could spend the last few months shaking the hornet's nest of the Tory Party." - so was TGL, but even she stayed on.
All you've done there Mozz is back me up. The only reason they want Boris out is because what they've already done has not sated their blood lust as they thought it would so they want more out of pure spite and nastiness.

Tora //Brown taking over, it was instant only because Brown was unopposed. If there had been a contest, Blair would have stayed until the new leader was chosen.//
If when why who. I'm talking about what actually happened, not some fictional alternative reality.
//Boris has done the same what's the difference?//
If you think that Boris has "calmly fallen on his sword" then you're living in the same fantasy world as Gully.
//but she stayed until the successor was chosen.//
Yup, but she wasn't going to cause any friction. She was too much of a party-centric politician. Wouldn't put her own career above the "greater good".

So, not because they've had enough of a leader who isn't worthy of the title of "Prime Minister", has, using the terminology of the sporting world, bought the party into disrepute, and who they don't trust to run the country efficiently for the last few months of his time in office then? Righto.
Take off your rose tinted glasses Tora, you may believe you're being a loyalist, but you're sounding like a Boris fanboy (a blue Gully. Congratulations on that). Leaders come and leaders go. I'm sure the next leader will be as bad as some who have come before them, but they'll be hard pushed to be worst that their direct predecessor.

Nobody trusts him, including his own cabinet and MPs.
People on all sides are worried about what kind of vindictive chaos he might cause - and in the Tories case, damage to their party - in the time he has left.
That's the first thing. The second is a Point of principle. When the main reasons you're going is because you're a law breaker and serial liar, you really don't deserve the dignity of being allowed to exit in your own sweet time.
BJ doesn't care about the Tory party any more than Trump cares about the Republican party. You really must learn to start seeing through these narcissistic charlatans.
