Caught the Paignton - Brixham ferry ( South Devon) yesterday and the boat was surrounded by leaping dolphins. Life-enhancing.

Is there a video?
If the dolphins are there, it shows that the water quality must be good.

Book: Not that I know of. They don't usually arrive til late August and sometimes don't turn up at all. They have a battle with seals and there currently aren't any seals in the bay (that we know of). I'm going out again tomorrow with friends and one of us might be able to get some footage. It's a joy.

Book: Thanks for the vid. I never fail to wonder at the natural world.
Lovely to see
I would have loved to see them.
at the risk of sounding boring, how is "random man sees dolphins in the sea" news to everyone else.
you know there are other topics aplenty in answerbank, right?
We do the Torquay to Brixham ferry on occasion and have often seen seals but not dolphins. One time we only just made it away from the quay as there is a really good sea food place there called Claws right on the quay and they have a restaurant across the road too.
and the ferry made it safely across - a close run thing, I would imagine.
