...we make no difference to the world what so ever in that area and we are already the no 2 climate change responder. Not that it makes any difference what we do. We have control of 4% of the 4% anyway. So good to hear some sense in that area for a change.

Elipsis: "Ironic if the leadership candidates are abandoning leadership on the biggest issue facing the planet's population, to get one of them elected as leader ... !" - You miss the point, we cannot have an affect no matter what we do, all the painful measures come to nothing when the Chinese are building coal 200 power stations. Thankfully the candidates have realised that.

The fact that we have a smaller impact on the damage that we are doing to our planet doesn't mean we should do nothing. I agree that it should not be a priority.
There is so much wastage of money in government and in the civil service. The NHS needs money, but they waste money too. Nothing is going to happen overnight but we need to be moving in the right direction.
(I spent 24 years in the civil service. Each year we had a budget for repairs and running costs of the office. One year we had money left over which 'had' to be spent or we would get less the next year. They installed a shower on each of the floors of the building. They were not needed and seldom used. Good job I retired at the age of 40 - with my pension).

britain the lion that roared on climate change, coming from a government and previous ones, it's ironic that thye would put the onus on the population with grand ideas about change, without thinking of the consequences on the already burdened tax payer, it's like they think its ww2 ie make and mend, just stick it to them, they will manage..british grit and and all that, and what do the other parties say about it...nowt, all as bad as each other, mp's nice wage for nothing more or less, i imagine they assume everyone is on a similar wage or more, anyone on less is err them the nuisance.
