Sorry but nobody needs to take drugs - no sympathy I am afraid. I grew up in the sixties and could easily have got drugs had I wanted to but I didn't feel the need. Now they are blaming it on deprivation - well on our council estate there were plenty of deprived people but I didn't have any friends who became addicts.
I've a degree of sympathy. I didn't need to start smoking but I was soon hooked on 40 a day, had a nightmare time quitting many years later.
It is only by luck that my regular drinking didn't turn in to alcoholism.
I don't believe anyone intends to become an addict.
Actually they say its the north east that has the most. If they are so deprived where do they get the money from to buy them (rhetorical question as we all know).
lanks: "If they are so deprived where do they get the money from to buy them" - like all druggies their habit is the most important thing, so they mainly steal from their relatives. Scotland is the drug abuse capital of Europe and not far off top in the world, I wonder why that would be??
Anyone can do daft things, and identifying what may have led to a daft decision can be useful. One may need to walk in another's shoes to appreciate a situation.
