What is wrong with this woman? Her son had the best free NHS care possible, care which she says wasn’t good enough, poor little Archie has now gone, and now she wants a public enquiry. Of course I feel sorry for her but she has really gone too far. She should be grateful she didn’t have to pay for something that was self inflicted. Rant over.

Gulliver why??? I agree with him. Archie's mother would be better off channelling her rage towards Tik Tok for showing these horrendous videos. The boy was dead from day 1 understandably she just did not want to know.

not sure about that dave - no matter how things ended up where they were, the thing they want an inquiry into is how the end of life care fits in with relatives needs. Knowing what happened to cause them to be in that position wont have any bearing on that.
There was probably/is probably a police investigation ongoing into the circumstances already.
In any case, i agree with the OP, although perhaps not in such stringent terms ;0

What is wrong with the woman is that she has just watched her son die. She is in no position to be rational and is driven by overwhelming emotions of grief, despair and anger.

I have no idea how I'd behave in those circumstances.

But if you are saying all NHS care is the best, believe me, I have one dead husband and one dead granddaughter to tell me it can be far from the best.

I think that she was hoping he would recover. She has said several times that she felt that Archie was responding .

smurfchops, I agree with you. I (forlornly) hoped there would be no more vitriolic statements from Archie's mother. This wretched woman is either talking from pure ignorance or in the hope of furthering her cause - whatever that may be. I have my thoughts on that.

The hospital were not able to exchange the life support system for, say, a lethal injection. She would have seen therefore a disturbing end to her son's life. I would expect that the hospital staff would have warned her of the consequences of ending life support. In my experience doctors have carefully explained what will ensue at the ending of someone's life.

I do not see that there is any shame in starting this thread, if anything it shows respect for other threads.

I can see Archie's mum suing the NHS for negligence even though they would have done their best for the lad, hence the enquiry. No doubt some ambulance chasing lawyer will take up her case.

I am/was a nurse and have had to deal with discontinuing life support for children many times. Either the support and explanation of Archie was inadequate, which I doubt, or the mother just could not and would not acccept that nothing more could be down for Archie to recover to anything other than a vegetative state. I do not know the set up of the unit where Archie was but the parents and family would have been allowed to be with him, the medical staff would hopefully be as inconspicuous as possible. Possibly the parents could be concerned of any police action. We are told this was a result of a TikTok challenge but is it possible it was suicide as a ligature was reportedly around his neck. The withdrawal of medication was probably enough to decrease blood pressure and his heart would stop after which the ventilator would be turned of. Archie would not suffocate as he had essentially been dead since the accident.

I see little similarity in the way Harry Dunn's parents behaved, davebro. Anne Sacoolus was less than truthful to the police.
