Do you agree that CEOs should get these huge pay rises and bonuses making the pay gap between them and the staff even wider? I know this happened in the previous years but given the current financial and energy crisis there would be an outcry if figures like this are published.
I've heard this saying so many times lately 'the rich get richer and the poor get poorer'.

If an exec, by virtue of individual decision making and business acumen, creates profit for their company, then I have no issue with a bonus being awarded.
But take water companies for example.
They continue to refuse to address the issue of leaks because to do so would involve massive financial investment which would hurt their shareholders' dividends, and are clearly never going to be dealt with.
No-one has a choice about which water company they source their water from, so the notion of competition and market forces do not exist.
So what exactly do water company executives do to earn or justify their bonuses, when people will use and pay for water whether the executives actually turn up for work or not.
Clearly, this is salary, and bonuses under false pretenses.
