I suspect there is a majority ant-Tory view among ABers and that's fine. But, as life-long Tory, I just despair that Sunak and Truss are so uninspiring and, frankly, mediocre.

I would agree that Liz Truss has had a successful complete charisma bypass operation, it does not bode well for the Tories at the next general election if she is leader.
I know, bring back Boris.
hymie: " it does not bode well for the Tories at the next general election if she is leader. " - you lefties just don't get it do you, dylin the dog could be leader and we'd still thrash Labour.

Tora: further to your point I think people will very quickly forgive his faults (and porkies) and he's not over yet.
There’s an anti Tory majority everywhere you know.
Although I vaguely wanted Liz Truss I’d have grave misgivings about her.
Does she seriously think “the jury is out” on whether France is a friend or a foe?
I know it’s only one thing but really …
The back stabbers in the Tory party have reaped what they’ve sown
//Does she seriously think ...//

Doubt it. ;o)
Johnson lost - get over it. :-)
TTT – there is a spoof advert in the current edition of Private Eye which could have been written just for you.

Its headline is ‘Are you suffering from memory loss?’
It continues:- ‘Are you a member of the Conservative Party and have forgotten why Boris Johnson was removed from office? Do you have no recollection of events that happened a short time ago?

Sadly, there are many old people who now believe that the Prime Minister was an honourable man.’
It continues by listing Boris’s complete lack of morality, record number of ministers resigning in protest at his complete lack of integrity etc, etc.

You really should buy a copy of PE, for this item alone – it would be an eye-opener for you.
So did Labour, Get over it!
Leaving the EU won in a referendum , Get Over it !

But you won’t , will you?
I can't see anyone disputing that, Atheist. Well ... he didn't actually lose ...that requires entering into competition... something he didn't do .... so in these circumstances 'assassinated' would be more accurate.
ich: "There’s an anti Tory majority everywhere you know. " - except for General elections!
TTT - it's not just Labour that you have to thrash though, it's everybody else. The Tories only have to be 1 seat short of a majority to be a dead-duck government. A lot of people, logically or not, are saying they have had enough of the Tories and will be voting for someone else. Don't take anything for granted.

If our constituencies were fairly & equally distributed WRT voter numbers Labour would struggle to compete with the LibDems for the number of MPs.
I don't feel sorry for you Tories one little bit but I'm afraid the partys over .With many thanks to
Johnson,Sunak ,and Truss. These three will spell the end of the Tory party for decades to come.
...When it comes to the publics turn to vote.
Well gully Labour last won an election in 1974 so I would not be too reliant on the public to change that.
The question was never about whether France was friend or foe, it was, given Macron's history regarding decisions/actions that are clearly not in the UK's interest, was he "friend", or simply has a facade of friendship and really "foe". Personally I'd not expect anyone to not sit on the fence on that one. When his actions don't match his claims, and one has to try to be diplomatic, a clear indication to the fellow that we are aware of his treatment of us, is a useful response. We're on to him. Gives him and his voters something to think about.
Personally I don't think the 2 contenders are any more nor any less uninspiring than the majority of MPs that ended up leading their party. It's what they do in role that counts.
