TBH I'm not bothered either way but for now I do use cash, mainly because that's how I keep track of my day to day spending, I also don't like having a 95 page bank statement with every tuppenny halfpenny item on it. What do we think?

They are not phasing out cash.
Just that no one will have any money by the time this useless Government have done trouncing the economy.
My views have already been covered in previous threads, but I do tend to agree re lengthy bank statements (although I don't think I've managed 95 pages yet LOL).
I don't get paper bank statements

who mentioned paper bank statements?
Sorry, what's cash?
If you don't get paper statements why are you bothered by a long bank statement?

My local chippy only accept cash

barry: "If you don't get paper statements why are you bothered by a long bank statement?" - because it's a pain to find anything and you have to page through it.

It would be a great anti crime measure mind. Money laundering would be much more difficult for example.
I bought something in a shop a while back and paid with my credit card. A few weeks later it broke and I couldn't find the receipt, but they accepted the transaction on my credit card statement as proof of payment so I got a full refund. It would have been my bad luck if I'd paid in cash.

I stocking up on wampum.
It will become harder to use cash. Some places won't take it now. I don't know if it will go altogether though.
Up here in Scotland if we ever get indendence(ho-hum),we will all be looking out our old Monopoly sets from the attic. The Monopoly money will be worth a lot more than the official Scottish currency, thats for sure.
Wouldn't be as much fun collecting off the bookies trackside when you've had a tasty winner. Nothing better than watching the bookies faces when they're reaching into their satchels for a thick wad of the folding stuff :-)
@14.21.I wouldnt know,Ken.Ive been following your horse-racing tips for the past five years.
Pity you didn't follow my football bets when i won £3,107.90 earlier this month, fanny.

By the way, at the risk of sounding like a stuck record, i don't do tips. If i was always successful when placing bets, i would. But you'd have to pay for them
No probs, old boy.Sorry if i rattled your cage.
Now that you have rattled my cage; you can't have been 'following' me that closely. I gave you 5/1 and 7/1 winners on Thursday evening. For free!! :-)
Do you start these diversionary threads on purpose, as Gromit alluded to last week?

Authorities do what they want without giving a guano about the public. But anyone with any sense should fight it 'tooth & nail'.
