A very sad day Rest In Peace Ma'am

A very sad day indeed.RIP
He has made his formal statement signed from King Charles 3. So I presume that is what he will be called and not George. I think that's good.

From BBC News just now she was described as being "Driven by faith and propelled by duty".

How apt.

I hadn't seen that, Miss T. Lots of monarchs over the last 200 years haven't used their first name, even Victoria.
To think that just two days ago she welcomed the new PM. She did her duty to the end. My goodness it will seem odd not having her as our Monarch any more. What a lady she was.
Question Author
I just can't believe she's gone.

For reasons I can't begin to understand I thought of her randomly on Monday whilst at work and I became quite choked. I suppose we knew this sad day was not far off.

I cannot think of anyone I admired more.
I can't imagine saying "God save the King" Queen Elizabeth II is all I have ever known. I never met her but saw her on 3 occasions. I'll definitely be going into London to pay my respects on the day
RIP
End of an era

She once had a swipe at Putin when he rather disgracefully was awarded a state visit in 2003. A dog barked at him and she remarked: “dogs have interesting instincts don’t they?”

A class act, now reunited with her equally inimitable husband.
"He has made his formal statement signed from King Charles 3"

The statement I seen wasn't signed at all but Liz Truss referred to him as Charles III and it was confirmed shortly after that would be his regnal name.
I think it would freak people out a bit if he had suddenly styled himself George VII :-)
Apart from spoiling the run of prime regnal numbers we can expect
Agree, safe passage and God save the King - and welcome to our new Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.
Dreadfully sad news. She was an inspiring figure to so many, a truly wonderful monarch & will be very much missed.

RIP, Your Majesty.
RIP
just remembering I must have been about 5 when I first saw her as she was staying round the corner from our house and my mother took me out for a look as was driven out in an open-topped black car. I suppose the next time was in the jubilee flotilla - we'd got out of touch for a while.

Jno Jnr has been regaling me with the time he knew Kate (before she and William were a thing); they were work contacts. My OH had a lot of contact with the royals but I never came within spitting distance of any of them.
She was a good ambassador for the UK and Commonwealth, was really human and treated all people with kindness, she was a great monarch.
I was in the cinema when I heard the sad news, Rest in Peace dear Queen , you’ll be sadly missed by those who loved you xx
My niece has just informed us that the horse show she was competing in was suddenly cancelled half-way through. She was riding a horse bred by the Queen and has cuddled it when stabling it tonight. Her Maj. reached a lot of places.
/The statement I seen wasn't signed at all but Liz Truss referred to him as Charles III and it was confirmed shortly after that would be his regnal name./

I didn't see the statement but it was read out in full by an itv news presenter and that included 'King Charles 3' . That was before Liz Truss' statement.
He was making an assumption he would be King Charles III and a comment was made at the time that as the statement hadn't been signed, there was the question still as to the name he would use.
