If the workplace is closed they will have no choice.
do non-workers refuse the traditional May Day holiday commemorating workers?
No, jno, but many of them respect workers.
Republic - the organisation has suspended campaigning for a period in respect for the Queen, but will resume in due course.
I guess many people will need to work on the "Bank Holiday" (outdated term that needs to be binned) whether they are ardent monarchists or republicans or simply don't care.
Do Hindus, Muslims & Jews not take Easter or Christmas holidays?
Your question stinks!
and many republicans respected the Queen and may continue to respect Charles, naomi. It isn't about the person, it's the system of hereditary monarchy they're questioning.
Half (four out of eight) of the UK Bank Holidays are specifically Christian in origin/celebration - are atheists all working their fingers to the bone on those days?
does that include steak and bj day, Dave? I can't remember whether bankers are thought to qualify for either.
I hope you're right, jno, but I suspect ... no, rewind there - I know there are republicans who have not an iota of respect for the monarchy.
What a silly question. In many cases it is impossible to "refuse" a Bank Holiday,, otherwise I expect they would.
Will you be refusing the day off , since you ask ?
I'm a staunch republican (with a small 'r' in case anyone has any delusions that I espouse Trumpery).

You will find precisely zero posts from me concerning my views since the death of Queen Elizabeth - nor will you find any until well after her funerary rites are completed and we get much closer to the coronation of her successor.

It is possible to be respectful without compromising ones views - a period of silence is all that is necessary.
Pretty certain they won't.
// I know there are republicans who have not an iota of respect for the monarchy.//

I would think ALL republicans disrespect the institute of monarchy. That doesn't mean they disrespect the person who has been landed with the job of monarch.
I'll amend that then, dave, to the royal family.
Rather a silly question I think. Do atheists work on Christmas Day? Could trawl through all the established "holidays" and find fault with them.
nor I
perhaps they will use the day of rest
as a further opportunity further vile and underhand tactics to forward their disgusting 'principles' !
probably - but not publicly
Why would they ? Is a bank holiday only for sycophants ? Or are you wishing it was ?

Very well put jno
Well here is one who has turned it down. It is an optional Bank holiday so I have opted out, along with others.

One thing often missed is this forced holiday will impact the self employed harshly after many are still recovering from Covid lockdowns. My builder SIL (and his mates) for instance got nothing and have been struggling ever since. It will be the same for zero hour contracts or any contract for that matter.

No thought whatsoever for them, forced to have a day off because you lot sat at home on AB think its great. Well I hope fuel prices go up so you have some pain too.
